La Magnardiere

Quiet site near Tours in a quiet location close to a number of activities.

Washroom facilities: 3 Average, queues at busy times and insufficient toilet paper
Pool facilities: 4 Very good pools, outside, inside and a toddler pool, but non water slides
Other onsite facilities/activities: 3 Go-karts for hire, football and tennis areas, shop and indoor games room, no evening entertainment or kids club
Restaurant: 4 Onsite is a snack area and opposite is a nice restaurant  reasonably priced
Quiet/peacefulness: 5 Very quiet area
Our pitch: 4 Good size, some shade, flat.
Easy access/location to external activities/attractions: 5 Opposite a childrens’ activity area, discount price if asked at campsite reception with ponies, goats, bouncy castle etc. Also within easy reach are lakes and zip line activity area.
Value for money: 3 Average price for the time of year, although we had to take a super pitch with water and electric as others were taken, costing €42 per night.
Overall site rating: 4.0 Very good site, we have been here regularly over a number of years.

Restaurant: NA Bar and snack area on site, but didn’t use them

Our pitch: 3 Good size, a little shade, but no privacy
Easy access/location to external activities/attractions: 5 Within walking distance to Rocomadour, restaurants, shops, night tour bus, and monkey park
Value for money: 3 Average cost for the time of year (€36 per night)
Overall site rating: 3.8 Good site in good location but needs modernising

L’escapade

East of Bergerac, just into the Dordogne region this site has a great pool area including slides and cafe but a bit out of the way and has very limited number of touring pitches, I counted only 12.

Other onsite facilities/activities: 5 Lots of sports facilities including trampolines and a good kids club
Restaurant: 2 OK except my daughter’s toastie was still frozen inside when she got it

Our pitch: 4 Good size, reasonably flat with some shade and hedges

A lovely campsite in the Dordogne region, close to the Vezere river.

Restaurant: NA We didn’t use it
Quiet/peacefulness: 5 Very quiet and peaceful, all accommodation areas are away from the pool etc
Our pitch: 5 Good sized pitch, flat with lots of shade and hedged for privacy 
Easy access/location to external activities/attractions: 3 OK if you have a car or are willing to cycle a few miles and hills
Value for money: 5 Very good value (€37 per night)
